a little history about the Castle

Rocky McQuistion had a reputation.

Known on the streets for his sharp instincts and ruthless efficiency, Rocky built an empire in the underworld, dealing in substances that brought both wealth and ruin. However, his reign came to an abrupt end one fateful night when the authorities finally caught up with him. Sentenced to a long term in prison, Rocky found himself facing a future filled with steel bars and concrete walls. During his time in prison, Rocky had plenty of time to reflect on his life. His transformation began with an unexpected visitor, a priest named Father O'Connor, who made regular rounds at the penitentiary.

At first, Rocky dismissed the priest’s visits as just another routine, but Father O'Connor's persistence and genuine concern slowly broke through his hardened exterior. The priest spoke of redemption, of second chances, and of finding a new purpose in life. These conversations planted a seed of change in Rocky’s heart. By the time Rocky was released, he had resolved to leave his past behind and pursue a new path. Inspired by Father O'Connor’s stories of mission buildings, Rocky decided to open a steakhouse that would reflect the peaceful and hopeful spirit of a mission. He chose Tucumcari, New Mexico, for its unique charm and rich history. He envisioned a place where people could gather for good food and feel a sense of community and solace.

Rocky poured his newfound energy into the project. He purchased an old property on the edge of town and began transforming it into his dream steakhouse. The building resembled a traditional mission, complete with a bell tower and adobe walls. Rocky even installed a working mission bell, which he hoped would one day ring out to welcome guests. As construction progressed, Rocky met Anna, a visiting nurse who was in town to care for a relative. She was kind, compassionate, and saw beyond Rocky’s past to the man he was striving to become. Their connection was immediate and profound. For the first time, Rocky experienced a love that was pure and untainted by his former life.

Anna’s presence brought joy and clarity to Rocky’s life, and soon, the dream of the steakhouse began to fade in importance. They spent more time together, exploring the beauty of New Mexico and envisioning a future together. It wasn't long before Rocky made a bold decision—he abandoned the steakhouse project to start a new life with Anna. Rocky and Anna left Tucumcari, settling in a quiet town where Rocky found honest work and Anna continued her nursing. They lived a modest but happy life, far removed from the shadows of Rocky’s past. The mission-style building in Tucumcari, left unfinished, stood as a silent testament to Rocky’s transformation and the new path he had chosen. Years passed, and the property remained vacant, slowly succumbing to the passage of time.

Recently, a new investor saw potential in the old mission building. She decided to renovate it and convert it into a charming bed and breakfast. The mission bell still hung proudly in the tower, its sound echoing through the town once more. The new bed and breakfast would feature a wading pool, inviting travelers to relax and enjoy the serene ambiance. As the renovations progressed, the spirit of Rocky’s original vision lived on, now repurposed to bring comfort and joy to guests in a new way. Rocky McQuistion’s story became a local legend, a tale of redemption and the transformative power of love. And as the mission bell rang out over Tucumcari, it served as a reminder that even the most troubled souls could find peace and a new beginning.
